Our smartphones are becoming our go-to cameras, so let’s learn how to use them properly and even expand on what’s possible!

In this four week class, learn not only how to use the camera in your pocket as a documentary tool, but also as an expression and creation of the artist in you.  It’s been said in photography that the best camera is the one you have with you.

If you are new to smartphone photography or simply want to take it up a notch, this class is for you!

  • Week 3: Composition

    • Utilizing rule of thirds for different subjects

    • Landscape vs Close Up vs People

    • Presenting for a smaller screen

    • When to crop

  • Week 4: Editing

    • Why editing is so important

    • Editing for different subjects including landscape, travel, food and portraits

    • Using your phone to edit

    • Best free apps

We’ll cover:

  • Week 1: Everything Apple/Samsung should have told you

    • How to operate your camera with basic controls

    • How to adjust exposure (brightness) and focus for perfect pics

    • Cool features including Portrait mode, panorama, flash, and HDR

  • Week 2: Lighting

    • Lighting - why it matters more for Smartphones

    • Best lighting for different subjects

    • Portrait vs Travel vs Food Lighting

Sara Keith

Director

Sara is living out her dream as Director of the Atlanta School of Photography, providing photographic education to the amazing Atlanta community.

Sara received her first digital camera from her grandfather when she was twelve years old. Sara received her BFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a minor in Film and Television.

She is an animal lover, food lover, and traveler.

Sara’s photography and consultation clients include the Woodruff Arts Center, Delta, Inspire Brands, US Bank, Mailchimp and Ponce City Market.

 How our classes work

Class will be held at the same day and time of your choice each week for four weeks and lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. (i.e. a Monday 10 AM class will be held every Monday morning for 4 weeks)  If you have any scheduling conflicts, we will try our best to accommodate, just give us a call!
