and Small Groups
What cameras can be used for this class?
Any Camera!
DSLR, Mirrorless, Smartphone, Film
What you'll practice:
• Use body angles, weight shifts and comfortable hand placement.
• Arrange different heights and keep every face visible.
• Use interaction prompts to encourage natural expressions.
• Choose camera distance, aperture and focus placement to help keep the group sharp.
• Catch awkward overlaps, cropped limbs and background distractions before shooting.
Leave with a repeatable posing process and a checklist that helps you direct people with greater confidence.
Know what to say when people ask, “What should we do?” Learn a practical way to arrange couples and small groups, guide hands and body angles, and encourage natural expression. Join Jay Batchler at Atlanta School of Photography in Old Fourth Ward for demonstrations and guided posing practice you can use with couples, friends and families.
Build a pose in a clear order: choose your camera position, arrange bodies, check faces and hands, then use a simple prompt to bring out connection. Practice giving friendly directions that help people feel comfortable rather than uncertain.
