Photographing with Instinct

an Master Class with Timofey Abel

Join photographer Timofey Abel for an immersive outdoor masterclass exploring the intuitive side of image-making. Known for his emotive work that blends fine art minimalism with storytelling, Timofey’s photographs are recognized for their quiet intensity — a studied mix of light, story, and restraint.

In this live session, participants will observe Timofey’s full process as he photographs a model in natural light, creating editorial portraiture shaped not by trend or formula, but by atmosphere, emotion, and instinct. From location choice to directing presence, from composition to tonal balance, every step is rooted in a search for authenticity — beauty that feels unforced and deeply human.

This masterclass is designed for photographers, creatives, and visual storytellers who are drawn to a slower, more intentional approach to image-making — one where fashion, feeling, and fine art seamlessly converge.

You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how to trust your eye, refine your taste, and shape imagery that speaks softly but stays with you.

Join us and rediscover how simplicity, light, and emotion create timeless portraits.

Timofey Abel

Timofey Abel was born in Moscow, Russia, and immigrated to New York City at the age of 7 as a political refugee. He became interested in 35mm street photography at the age of 16, but always took great interest in the creative arts, including painting, music, cinematography and writing. Abel grew up on the road, having visited over 30 countries before turning 18. Culture, history and diversity are elements he values in both his personal life and professional work. His documentary street photography slowly transitioned into portrait and fashion photography when he moved up to South Carolina from South Florida. Abel’s photography is often described as emotional, personal and dramatic. “The story behind an image matters more than the image itself” says Abel, highlighting the importance of storytelling as well as connection to the subject being photographed. Currently, Timofey Abel lives in Atlanta, GA. As a young photographer (20), he emphasizes the effect that visual arts have on a society, and how photography impacts and reflects culture.
