Join Nature Photographer Larry Winslett for a day of photography in the Nantahala River Gorge area in western North Carolina.  This is one of the most beautiful locations in the Southern Appalachian Mountains; spectacular mountain streams, waterfalls and fall color will be the order of the day.

This is a great opportunity to for photographing:

  • moving water with slow shutter speeds using your tripod with mountain and stream scenes

  • learning the best use of dynamic light

  • capturing beautiful fall color

  • landscape photography

  • fun with filters

Students should prepare for some walking and will be asked to bring their own lunch.  The meeting location is about 2 hours north of Atlanta's I-285.  Directions & details provided several days before registration.

Larry Winslett

Larry is a nature photographer, environmentalist, exhibitor, and along with his wife Julie, co-author of the recently published book, Wildflowers of Stone Mountain. His work has been featured in Sierra, Wilderness, and Wild Mountain Times, and is currently exhibiting at Stone Mountain Park at the new Environmental Education Center.

Larry specializes and teaches to both film and digital photographers alike in subjects ranging from wildflower and macro photography to water and nature photography. He leads his own field workshops to both local and national destinations.

When he is not taking pictures of the great outdoors, Larry is busy protecting it for other photographers. He is the founder and CEO of Friends of Georgia, a conservation organization for environmental protection. To learn more about his efforts and his photography, please visit Larry’s WEBSITE.
