The Business of Creativity
Kevin D. Liles is a documentary, commercial, and sports photographer based in Atlanta.
Since 2018, he has served as the team photographer for the Atlanta Braves. He is responsible for covering all 81 home games, the 2021 World Series, as well as portraits and other advertising and marketing needs.
Kevin specializes in creating narrative, layered and powerful images, and has photographed hundreds of games for professional teams and clients such as Sports Illustrated and The Players' Tribune. He has worked at the Olympics, Super Bowls, NBA Finals, NCAA National Championship games (football and basketball), and major golf championships.
He has also been a regular contributor for several years to The Washington Post, The New York Times and The Golfer's Journal. Commercial clients include New Balance, Turner Studios, Bodyarmor, 100% Sunglasses, and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.
Navigating the business of being a freelancer can be tough, especially for creatives. After all, most of us got into this business to create, not follow up on invoices and figure out how to start a marketing campaign.
Hello, I’m Kevin Liles, and I’ve been freelancing full time for 12 years. I’m a sports, editorial, and commercial photographer based in Atlanta, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients such as the Atlanta Braves (where I have been the team photographer since 2018), the Atlanta Falcons, New Balance, Mizuno, The New York Times and Sports Illustrated.
For this three-hour workshop, I will be discussing some of the biggest issues freelancers deal with on a regular basis — contracts, copyright, licensing, and marketing. This is an overview course meant to help those new to freelancing, about to embark on a freelancing career, or those who are a few years in and need some guidance on these topics.
This is an-person event and space is limited.
